Joining The KPop Demon Hunter Craze Will Brighten Your Utah Social Life
Do you ever get the feeling you are on the outside of an important trend?

I did when I started hearing talk of Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters. It seemed to be everywhere, and I was clueless. When this happens you have two options,
Option 1 When You Are Left Out of a Trend
You can put your head into the sand ostrich style and just hope the trend goes away, but when you do that there are two sad consequences.
The First Consequence of Avoiding a Trend
you miss out on connecting with those who share in the trend. There is a story of a man entering a train shaking his watch and listening to see if it has stopped. A stranger takes a chance and says, “I told you not to use butter.” The watch owner replies, “awe, but it was the best butter. See both of them had read Alice in Wonderland and shared that moment from the story. There is something delicious about sharing a reference to someone. Staying ignorant removes the ability for that connection.
The Second Consequence of Avoiding a Trend
Removing yourself almost always turns you negative to the trend. You start out being neutral, but the longer you feel like you're on the outside the more you start to resent that thing. If you don’t believe this, spend some time with dual language friends. Soon when they break into their second language you will start to suspect they are talking about you even if they are just practicing their skills.

Option 2 When You Are Left Out of a Trend
Find a way to join in. You might feel silly at first when you start behind the rest of the pack but jump in anyway. In this case it's easy, just watch the movie and voila you are in. Next time your little friend breaks into a rendition of “Golden” you will be able to sing along...and wave your Huntrix lightstick and uh...maybe cheer–or scream–the names of the members of the band.
