Hazardous Waste Days

There are items you cannot just throw in your garbage and send to the landfill. Things like oil, paint and paint thinners, except on certain days of the year. That’s right, Washington County will take hazardous materials two times a year.

The cost of the service is free for Washington County residents during these times. Here are the days to put on your calendar for 2024. April 13th and October 12th from 8 in the morning until 12:45 pm you can drop off your hazardous materials.

Hazardous to Store

When these chemicals and hazardous items have expired and age, they can be danger with the possibility of igniting or leaking into the environment. The Washington County Solid Waste District has taken the initiative to give residents a way to get rid of this waste.

I appreciate that they have made it so I can toss these items and not charge me for it. You should be aware that you can’t throw away old tires or commercial materials without a fee. Mark down the hazardous waste days and clear that stuff out of your garage.
