There is One Fruit Name That Is Growing in Popularity

As a new parent, naming your children can be a struggle. You don’t want a name that is too common, and you don’t want one so different that they get made fun of in social situations. There has been a trend of naming babies after fruit.

I have a niece who named her daughter Lemon, and at first, I wasn’t sure of it, but I have come to really love it. That is not the name, however, that is growing in popularity by leaps and bounds. Clementine is the name that has soured in popularity the last couple years.

It is still relatively low on lists of names, but if it continues its current rate of increase, it will start hitting higher and you will begin to see more and more little folk carrying the moniker.

Pick a Name That Can Be or Add to a Brand

Many young people have an identity on social media these days. There is a trend of new parents picking names that will help their brand and possibly the child's brand in the future. Perhaps this is why there are more baby names picked from objects.

Names based on colors like Gray, Lavender and Coral are examples of these. They are different and visual and are easily remembered because they are tied to something people are familiar with. Names associated with fruit have the same effect.

Who knows where this will go. Maybe one day I will meet a child named Cantelope or Grape. Actually, grape isn’t too bad now that I think about it.
