The city of St. George has purchased the lot at 100 West and St. George Boulevard and is asking developers for ideas on what should be built there. It is a good location right in the middle of town. They have a request for qualifications and is asking for developers to propose ideas.

The City is extending an invitation to firms possessing substantial expertise in professional architectural design, land use planning, and land development services, encompassing market research and financial forecasting.

I don't have any of the qualifications listed, but I have plenty of ideas. Here are my top five:

1. – Goat Climbing Paradise. We probably can’t support a full-size zoo in St. George, but everyone loves a good petting zoo. And watching goats climb around is a lot of fun.

2. – Mini Sphere. You’ve heard about the sphere in Las Vegas. It is amazing. We could have a smaller version that has an arcade where kids can win tickets to exchange for cheap prizes. A tamed down kind of Southern Utah gambling. Credit to Andy Thompson from 97.7 ESPN for this idea.

3. – Cars Land. I have always thought Disney should farm out their best rides to other locations. Most of us don’t have time for multiple days in a theme park. We could visit one part of the park in other locations without the high price and long lines.

4. – 10 Story Pickleball Complex. Everyone loves pickle ball.

5.– Giant Air conditioner. For those hot July months when the temperature hits 113. This sucker would blow cold breezes through the city.

I know what’s going to happen. These ideas are so good, they will want to use all of them. There’s just not room. The city will have to tear down some more motels in other parts of the city.
