Sad That Biggest in the World List Has Only One Utah Entrant
If you like roadside attractions like the biggest Rubik's cube found in Knoxville, Tennessee or the largest boiled peanut in Hardeeville, South Carolina, you may want to skip Utah. The beehive state used to have two largest attractions but now we are down to one.
Utah is Going Backward in the Number of Large Roadside Attractions
If you have driven I-70 through Green River, Utah, you have seen that the place is known for their watermelon. Perhaps a little less known is that it was once home to the largest watermelon slice in the world.
Unfortunately, it is now only the second largest apparently.
Bigroads.com has a list of different large things that can be found in each state. Utah contains two. For frame of reference, Minnesota has 17. If that’s not bad enough, the list has been updated to show that the watermelon is no longer largest.
Where to Find Utah’s Entry on Largest Roadside Attraction
To find Utah’s one entrant on the list that still counts as the largest you have to head to Dutch John, Utah near Flaming Gorge Reservoir. This is the home of the largest fishing fly. It sits outside Dutch John Resort in the town.
That sucker would take a minute or two to tie.
As a side note. There have been some record trout caught in Flaming Gorge including the state record. It is a 53 pounds and 15 ounces fish caught in 2020. It is no wonder they catch that big of trout when you have the largest fishing fly sitting around.

I think we can do better. Heck Grand Island, Nebraska shows off the biggest pair of overalls. Surely, in the beehive state we could sew up some giant pants to put on display.
