It’s starting to feel spookier at night. It gets darker sooner, and even though the daytime weather doesn’t always cooperate, the evenings are inarguably cooler—perfect weather to start worrying about visitors from other planets. Their craft of choice, of course, is the UFO. I don’t know why aliens always travel in a UFO; I mean, identify your vehicle already.

According to data from the National UFO Reporting Center (yes, that’s a real thing), Arizona and Nevada take the cake for close encounters with unidentified flying objects, or UFOs. The list starts with Phoenix, Arizona in the top spot. Then comes New York City, where many residents and cabs could be classified as interplanetary. In at number three sits Las Vegas. I’m sure Elvis was the reported pilot of at least some of those otherworldly crafts. Next, you have Portland, Oregon at number four, and Tucson, Arizona—yes, another Arizona city—at number five.

The chances that these intergalactic thrill seekers stay in their own areas of visitation are astronomically low. I’d bet they’re hovering over Utah on the regular. If they’re commuting to and from these top cities, we’ve got to be in some of their flight paths. So, lift your eyes to the skies and start reporting. Surely we can entice them into making a touchdown—Utah’s got some pretty otherworldly landscapes that would make them feel right at home.
