I love it when people do weird stuff just for the fun of making others wonder about it. Crop circles, big metal monoliths left in the middle of nowhere, massive art pieces where you wouldn’t expect. This alien on Google Earth fits the vibe.

Famous Movie Alien Smiles for the Satellites

If you scan the desert of Utah near the Nevada border there are some black cliffs that surround a white sandy area. Zoom in close and you will find E.T. staring back at you. Yes, this is the same alien from the “E.T. the Extra Terrestrial” from 1982.

You can see if for yourself on Google Earth by putting in the following coordinates into the search bar:

39.66035270880765, -113.70509235865264

It is clearly our favorite visitor from the 80s. All that is missing is his long glowing finger.

Making the Desert Image Was No Easy Task

What inspired someone to create this? While scanning satellite photos, they must have noticed this feature looked like E.T.’s head. They must have wondered how they could create some lines in the dirt to make his face.

What followed was not an easy task. The nearest town is 60 miles away and just some dirt roads to this outcropping of rock. They would have had to haul out some equipment to drag lines in the dirt.

How did they know it would look right? Did they fly drones overhead as they worked? I give full credit for a massive undertaking just for the joy of knowing someone might see it on satellite.
