Hearing a bird speak like a human is fascinating. You may not be able to afford an expensive parrot from the pet store, but they aren't the only birds that can learn to ask for a cracker. This little bird seen all over Utah has the same ability.

Sitting on Power Lines Holding Bird Church

There is a small dark colored bird that sometimes flies over the fields in the thousands. It looks like a dark cloud swarming through the air. They also like to line up on power lines to rest. That isn't the only talent these little birds can do.

European Starlings are not native to North America. In 1890, 80 of the birds were released in New York’s Central Park and have since spread across the continent. They are now more common in this hemisphere than where they came from.

With numbers in the hundreds of millions, they can cause problems for native birds and do damage to crops. They can also copy other bird calls and even the sound of nature around them.

Teaching Little Starlings to Speak

A video went viral or a man in New Jersey who taught his pet Starling to talk. These little birds are intelligent. It isn't just nature sounds they can learn to mimic. This one learned to say, “I love you” and “scrappy baby”.

Even though they are wild birds, they can be tamed and become pets. They are known for bonding with their caretaker and can be affectionate. They are very curious and can even learn to do tricks.
