Sleep Uncovered In Utah To See the Double Meteor Shower
Two Meteor Showers Collide in the Night Sky Right Now
Camping on a clear night between now and mid-August could treat you to a meteor show. This is because two separate asteroids are producing debris that will leave trails in the night sky as the debris burns up as it enters the earth’s atmosphere.
This double meteor shower is a rare event and is happening because the Southern Delta Aqauriids and the Alpha Capricornids asteroids are overlapping as they pass. There is not going to be some sort of collision. This is space, so there is plenty of room. There will just be a better chance of spotting a meteor.
The Best Way to See Meteors
Here's some advice for spotting meteors. First of all, don't sleep inside your tent.
Get away from city lights
Anything reflecting light into the sky will make it harder to see. This may be the night you rent a yurt in Zion and stick your head out of the flaps.
Don’t focus on one spot
Let your eyes scan the entire sky rather than focusing on one patch. In this way you will see the streaks in the sky from wherever they occur.
Early morning hours
The best time to watch a meteor shower is after midnight. This has to do with when the earth is moving into the stream of dust and rock that then enter the atmosphere.

If you do get some great photos of the meteor shower I would love to see them and share them with others. On the app there is a place you can submit photo/video.
