This popular hacking scam aims to compromise your computer using psychology. Rather than sending out a link that downloads bad software, this uses your trust in those who have helped you with your computer in the past to get unauthorized access.

We have become more careful about the links we click in an emails. We have learned to take some time checking where the email came from. We may not be as careful when someone is emailing or on the line trying to explain a fix.

This scam usually involves someone asking for verification that you are not a robot or a way to fix a connection problem. It feels like someone from tech support trying to help you out. What they really want is to take over your computer.

Do Not Click Any Combination of Keys on the Keyboard 

If the email or person asks you to click the windows button and R key at the same time, it’s a scam. Same if it is the windows button and X or if they ask you to push Ctrl and V. They are trying to have you copy a command and enter it that will give them access.

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
