Oh Fudge! Its National Fudge Day

June 16 is the National Day of Fudge which means it’s time to go out and grab a piece of melty decedent chocolate while supporting local businesses.  

The National Day Calendar said the origins of fudge are still being researched but the delicious dessert is thought to have been sold in 19th century in chocolate shops in Michigan. It’s an interesting mix of sugar, cream (or milk), butter, and chocolate in its most basic form. Once it goes through the process of being boiled, stirred (beaten), and then cooled you are left with fudge, the Food Network said.  

You can of course make fudge at home and there are PLENTY of recipes online. However, there are chocolate shops all over Utah to check out that make fudge in-house. So, why not head out and grab a treat for yourself on a Friday?

Where To Get Fudge in Utah: 

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory 

Located in St. George, this chocolate shop is a local favorite and has been around for years! On the website, it says all the fudge and candy apples are made in-house. Fresh fudge for the win! There are six types of fudge you can try at this location:

This chocolate shop is located up North in several different places like Orem, Salt Lake City, Bountiful, and more. Basically, you’ll find one in just about every city up there. This shop offers five types of fudge and some of it looks especially good!

• Peanut Butter Fudge 
• Penoche Pecan Fudge Crème

Since these are nowhere near Southern Utah, you can do online orders. 

Chocolate Covered Wagon 

Also located up North, the Chocolate Covered Wagon offers bulk and fudge trays to grab in store or to order. There is a TON of sweets to choose from and according to the website, the shop is known for its saltwater taffy. However, its fudge looks dang good too!
