New Salt Lake City Venue is Personal
I don't know if it is because Salt Lake City is Utah's capital or because I spent some of my early years visiting it, but I always feel a tug of interest in the growth of Utah's capital. If you are like me, you will be excited to hear that a major new addition is coming to Salt Lake City’s cultural landscape. Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art concert and event venue in the heart of downtown, marking a bold step forward in its vision for a vibrant “entertainment district.”
New Salt Lake City Venue Location
The proposed venue will be strategically located between two of the city’s most iconic landmarks—the Delta Center and the Salt Palace Convention Center. With a seating capacity of approximately 6,000, the facility is designed to host a wide range of events, from live concerts and comedy shows to community gatherings and corporate functions.
Details for New Venue
SEG is partnering with global entertainment powerhouse Live Nation to bring the project to life. The collaboration aims to position Salt Lake City as a premier destination for touring acts and large-scale productions, filling a gap between intimate clubs and massive arenas.

Construction is slated to begin in early 2027, with officials projecting the venue will host up to 200 events annually once operational. The development is expected to generate significant economic activity, drawing visitors downtown and boosting local businesses.
Larger New Venue Vision
SEG’s broader entertainment district plan includes enhancing walkability, dining options, and public spaces around the venue, creating a dynamic hub for locals and tourists alike. As anticipation builds, city leaders and residents are watching closely, hopeful that the new venue will elevate Salt Lake’s reputation as a thriving center for arts, entertainment, and community engagement.
