St. George Parks: A Haven For Outdoor Enthusiasts And Community Gatherings
St. George is ever-growing which means so are its number of parks, and right now the area has 20 parks!
With so many parks in the area, there are a ton of options for families, athletes, and everyday parkgoers to choose from. Many of the area's parks like Vernon Worthen Park and Town Square Park are often used for events by the city or other organizations. There are other parks around town that are simply for smaller recreation uses for children or fields for those who like to do a bit of frisbee on the weekends.
A Guide to St. George’s Parks:
Sandtown Park-
This park is right off Bluff St and s usually has soccer teams playing on the weekends, which locals see when passing by. This park is somewhat busy and does have regular community events during the year like the Celtic Festival. Sandtown Park is surrounded by housing leading back into downtown St. George so it's not a park for super large activities or outdoor hiking like some other nearby parks. However, it does have decent space and offers a centralized location for St. George.

Pioneer Park-
This might just be one of the more well-known parks in the area for its proximity to Dixie Rock, a St. George landmark, and its city views that tourists and locals alike try to view. According to Google, its 52 acres and gives access to BBQs, covered pavilions, and hiking trails. Any middle schooler or high schooler knows that it's also a prime location for dance date/group photos (as I once took there during my Senior year).
The biggest downside to this park is the parking lot space and location. Both entrances are on Red Hill Pkwys curve and it's an area that could potentially have a lot of accidents because of its limited space. It gets congested a lot during spring and summer causing angry drivers and a congested park.

Vernon Worthen Park-
Vernon Worthen Park is one of the main activity parks for events in St. George. It offers a large space located in downtown St. George just a few streets down from Utah Tech University. It’s also surrounded by pickleball courts and the rodeo arena on one side. For regular park activities, there are benches and tables along with grills for the community to use. It also offers decent shade from its tree population during the summer heat.
One event the park regularly hosts is the Downtown Farmer’s Market on Saturdays where local artisans set up booths to see their homemade goods. It's also a popular location during parades as they always pass by the street that its on.

Royal Oaks Park-
This park is a regular old playground, pavilion, and grass park. However, it's surrounded by many trees. There is also a wooden bridge surrounded by greenery, which makes it an ideal location for a photoshoot. It also offers public restrooms.

Shadow Mountain Park-
Though there are a few parks in St. George with ponds, this is one that is known for its pond and could arguably its most popular attraction. This park is not a large park, but it does offer the usual facilities. It’s a great place for a picnic while feeding the ducks. It also has a 4.6 on Google Reviews.

Brooks Nature Park-
Another pond park! This park is a downtown park that focuses on the beauty of St. George with some educational plaques scattered throughout. It gives the parkgoer a canyon vibe in certain areas so people can experience the red rocks up close and personally. There also seems to be a painted rock area as well for a bit of a different take on park decoration.

Black View Hill Park-
This park is a looker. Located on Tech Ridge Dr., it’s an uphill climb to reach this park but it’s in a somewhat secluded area that’s not busy with other people or traffic. It's definitely on the smaller end of a park but it gives the residents of “up on the ridge” a close playground. There is grass and some open areas for non-playground activities.

Town Square Park-
Town Square Park could be considered “the park” of St. George. It's often referred to as the “splash pad” because of the water features. It has a large area of grass, several playground contraptions, and a carousel. Not only is it centrally located in the area, but it hosts many of St. Georges iconic annual events.
This park becomes central during Ironman Races, and it also hosts the Art Festival that comes around every spring. In the summer, you can expect it to be packed with kids trying to get into the splash pad area to cool off and parents trying to find shade while corralling rambunctious kids.

Cottonwood Cove Park-
Although this is another small park it has all the park “must haves” like a playground, and shaded seating area. There is some grassed area, but the children's area has woodchip bottoms instead of grass. Trails also surround the park leading to different trails, some of which are paved.

Dixie Downs Park-
Another park that isn’t super popular according to Google Reviews has only 18 voters and a 4.1-star rating. Located in Dixie Downs, this is a neighborhood park that has a kid's playground and a small grass area. This is another pond park, so ducks are visible to watch during the right seasons.

Thunder Junction All Abilities Park-
The Thunder Junction All Abilities Park is the cream of the crop of parks for kids in St. George. With massive slides, a train, and theme park vibes, this place is most likely a favorite for St. George families. As the title states, the park is accessible to all children of any background or disability.
It's also a host to many children's activities that happen throughout the year.

Mathis Park-
This park screams “natural beauty” and has a plethora of trees and lots of grass space. The playground area is an average size for St. George. There are paved pedestrian/bike rails around the park and of course, pavilion sitting areas.

Sunset Park-
Located near Snow Cany High School, this park offers a large grass field, a sand volleyball court, and regular park ark activities. The park is located near a neighborhood and has paved paths for residents and parkgoers to walk on. The downside to this park is its proximity to a school so depending on what times someone goes, there could be a lot of traffic.

Tonaquint Park-
Tonaquint Park is located right by Thunder Junction All Abilities Park and offers multiple tennis courts, recreation areas, a nature center, and trails. There is a garden center in the same area that the public is able to walk through to view all the flora planted.

Crosby Family Confluence Park-
This park is on the cusp of the Bloomington side of town and right next to the Convention Center. It’s a secluded grassy park with bike trails and open grass areas. There are water features at the park, so feeding the ducks is a possibility at the right time of year.

Firehouse Park-
For Santa Clara residents, this park is one of the more central ones. The park is located right next to a fire department, hence the name. There is an off-leash dog park for dog owners and large grass areas too. There are shaded pavilions and restrooms. Paved walkways are throughout the park and children have playground options.

Blake Memorial Park-
The Blake Memorial Park may not host as many activities but it’s a neighborhood park that still gets some attention from the community. It does not have as fancy of a playground area as some of the parks but in the spring and summer it boasts green field areas and shaded picnic spots.

Middleton Park-
This is also a neighborhood park and definitely a smaller one than many on this list. However, it offers a playground suitable for a few kids and has surrounding trees for shade in the hotter months. It also has a basketball court available.

Springs Park-
Another park on the Bloomington Hills side of town is Springs Park. It offers a basketball court, a water feature, a playground, and public restrooms. Springs Park is a medium-sized park and would be considered a neighborhood park.
