Today is a BEAUTIFUL morning in Southern Utah. It's 65 degrees in St. George with clear skies. I'm laying in bed and feeling great about the day. My mind starts drifting... Food! MMM... What sounds good to eat? Then I remember... IT'S SUNDAY! So many restaurants are closed today and now I can't have all the delicious food I've been craving!

Here is a list of the St. George Restaurants that are PISSING ME OFF today... because they're closed on Sundays:

Pasta Factory:

Screw this! I want that smooth, gorgeous Alfredo Sauce today and I CAN'T HAVE IT! But what's making me even more pissed off... THE BREADSTICKS! If you haven't had a Pasta Factory Bread Stick, you haven't lived! I'm not talking about the Bread Twist either. I'm talking BREADSTICK! You can only get it at the Pasta Factory location on Main Street & St. George Boulevard. Make sure you dip those breadsticks in their INCREDIBLE ranch, or even more incredible Alfredo Sauce. YUM!

Durango's:

Seriously Durango's? You're better than Cafe Rio AND Costa Vida, and you're going to have the balls to be CLOSED TODAY?! This is some BS. You have the best quesadilla out of the three, and your Chicken Soup is literally heaven on earth. I don't know if I'll ever forgive you for being closed today. This SUCKS!

Morty's Cafe:

After all these places have been closed, I start thinking about an AMAZING BURGER. Morty's! Morty's has to be open! I get on Google to see.. and they're closed too! Their burgers are awesome, but their fries are even better! They have a legit Fry Sauce too! Perfect ratio of ketchup to mayo. Screw you, Morty! I'm not forgiving you until AT LEAST tomorrow morning!

Angelica's:

After all of this, now I'm thinking about tacos! Street Tacos. YES! Angelica's has the best street tacos in town. They've gotta be open right?! WRONG! WTF Angelica's?! There should be a rule... When your Carne Asada Street Tacos are THIS GOOD,  you have to stay open 7 days a week! Raise your hand if you agree. Plus, they've got that Salsa Bar that I'm BANANAS about. I love a place that I can get my own sauces as I please, and their mild salsa (formerly known as Wimpy Mild) will blow your mind. I love this place, but right now... YOU'RE DEAD TO ME ANGELICA'S! I NEED YOUR TACOS!

Island Grinds, Honolulu Grill, Mo' Bettahs:

THE HOLY TRINITY OF HAWAIIAN FOOD IS CLOSED ON SUNDAYS HERE! I want some rice and teriyaki sauce, and NO! I can't make it as good at home. But besides that... The Mac Salad at ALL THREE of these places is to die for. If they were all open, I choose Island Grinds, THEN Honolulu Grill, THEN Mo' Bettahs, but they've ALL made a pact to be closed today, just to hurt my feelings?! Screw this.

Slice House Pizza Co.

I'm done, bro! I AM DONE! My final idea today was "Well, I guess I can always get pizza!" So I look up one of my favorite places for Pizza... Slice House at the Outlets at Zion. They're closed too! Not only do they serve pizza by the slice, (Which is SO GOOD), but they also have the world's most incredible Cheese Sticks. I'm CRAVING these Cheese Sticks dipped in their mouthwatering Ranch dressing. But they decided they don't love me today, and I'm pissed.

What are the places that YOU'RE pissed off they're closed today?!

We've all got some favorites, right? How much do you LOVE your favorite restaurants?! I love mine A WHOLE LOT!

Here are a list of the Restaurants in Southern Utah that I would take a bullet for!

Durango's:

HANDS DOWN, the absolute BEST of the Holy Trinity of Mexican Grills (Cafe Rio, Costa Vida, Durango's). They've got the best and cheapest quesadilla meal in town! SO GOOD!

Pasta Factory:

This has been my first love of restaurants for YEARS! Fettuccine Alfredo, maybe some chicken, but DEFINITELY the bread sticks! PLUS... Great outdoor seating! Definitely go dine-in and eat your weight in those amazing breadsticks.

Sakura:

Sakura is my JAM! Especially on my birthday. Here's the thing though... It runs through me like a hot snake, but it's SO WORTH IT! I love dinner and a show too, which Sakura gives a GREAT Hibachi Show! Their onion soup is TOTALLY underrated too.

Burger King (Washington):

People are going to LOSE THEIR MIND over this one... But hear me out! My dad and mom used to take me here ALL THE TIME as a kid! I have the best memories having Burger King breakfast with my parents! Still do to this day, I CRAVE Burger King Breakfast! I'll throw hands with anyone that talks wrong about BK!

Cupbop:

Cupbop is SO GOOD! It's Korean BBQ, and started here in Utah. Be careful though, Korean spice is NO JOKE! It can get HOT! But I crave this place ALL THE TIME! Always amazing!

Alfredo's A:

This actually might be my FAVORITE Mexican Restaurant in town! Here are my TOP 3 things to get at Alfredo's:

  • Sausage Breakfast Burrito with No Potato. (Lots of Red Sauce)
  • Super Nachos with no Guac. (Carne Asada, rice, beans, chips, salsa,) SO GOOD!
  • Cheese Quesadilla. (It's BIG! It's Greasy! It's BEAUTIFUL!)

Silver Reef Brewery:

This has become an instant hit for me! I love this place. I've tried 99% of the menu and everything I've tried is AWESOME! My favorite is the Club Sandwich, but if you haven't tried their house-brewed root beer... you're TOTALLY missing out! They now have serve brunch on weekends from 11-1 as well. You gotta try this place.

Southern Utah Businesses We Should Be REALLY Proud Of

Cafe Rio, Google Earth, Canva

I'm a born and raised Southern Utah kid! I was born at the Dixie Regional Medical Center, and I have immense pride in St. George and the surrounding areas. I LOVE when I see celebrities have come to town, or when a local kid is getting statewide or even national attention. But now that I'm older, one thing that I've been totally proud of is BUSINESSES that were born in Southern Utah and are thriving!

Here's a list of some Southern Utah Businesses that we should REALLY be proud of:

SWIG:

Swig

Swig is going on my list #1. You can say whatever you want about Swig or Soda Shops, but Swig literally invented something that was right in front of our eyes. I can remember when Swig started in this tiny little building a block down from the Boulevard, and now they've grown into a JUGGERNAUT across the United States! They're on their way to 500 locations and they can't be stopped. Someone put their dream to work and they're now worth MILLIONS. That's pretty incredible.

Squatty Potty:

Squatty Potty hit BIG around 10 years ago when they started selling little stools to help your stools (That should actually be their tagline. Someone hit them up about that!) But then they struck a deal on Shark Tank and now Squatty Potty is worth over $60,000,000 according to Google! Not bad for a little business from little St. George!

Cafe Rio:

CAFE RIO MEXICAN GRILL LOGO

The Real OG's remember when Cafe Rio opened up well over 20 years ago in St. George. Their first location was where Durango's sits now. Without Cafe Rio we wouldn't have Durango's or Costa Vida and for THAT... We thank you, Rio! Cafe Rio now has over 160 locations across the globe! Isn't that awesome?!

Paparazzi Accessories:

Paparazzi
Paparazzi
loading...

Paparazzi Accessories is a local company that has EXPLODED across the world. It's a Network Marketing company and if you're completely uniformed on "Network Marketing" you'll probably say it's just Pyramid Scheme or a Scam... It's not. Paparazzi owns that MASSIVE building with the pink lights across the street from Big Shots Golf. Paparazzi is worth over $250,000,000 and they employ TONS of local people as well as people across the globe. They're owned by Misty and Chani, two local girls from Hurricane.

I know that there are TONS of other places that have made a big name for themselves here in Southern Utah, and if you can think of those places, PLEASE let me know who should be added to this list!

Best Places To Put A 2nd Costco In Southern Utah

Costco, google earth, canva

Have you been into Costco in St. George lately? It's THE WILD WEST! It is incredibly packed all the time and the parking lot is a nightmare! We definitely have enough people for another Costco location, but the problem is... SO MANY PEOPLE share their Costco cards with others. Costco assumes we have x-amount of members, when in reality they have at least DOUBLE that number in customers.

We will definitely be getting ANOTHER Costco sometime soon, and here are the top places I think they should be:

Southern Parkway Exit:

Google Earth
Google Earth

This is the next BIG area that will be thriving soon! Desert Color has gone in and brought tons of people, and with that came Big Shots Golf. Megaplex has announced they're bringing a Luxyury Megaplex next to Big Shots. In-N-Out Burger and Del Taco will be going in on that exit, and another Sakura location will be too.

Hurricane Valley:

Google Earth
Google Earth
loading...

This wouldn't be the ideal landing spot for me. It would be further out of town, but it could work for a lot of Southern Utah. It would be closer for Hurricane and all the growth happening out there, and it's right off Southern Parkway too, so you could get there fairly quickly.

Ivins/Santa Clara:

Google Earth
Google Earth
loading...

Growth in Santa Clara & Ivins has EXPLODED in the last few years. I remember when there was NOTHING out there, and now they've got Harmon's, Swig, Alfredo's A, Jersey Mikes, Buck's Ace Hardware, and more. This could be a good landing spot for people living in western St. George as well as Santa Clara and Ivins obviously.

Warner Valley:

Google Earth
Google Earth
loading...

We're going to see a HUGE influx of growth out near Warner Valley in Washington, and another big draw... Right off Southern Parkway again! Yes, it's on the western side of town again, but maybe that would help take the pressure off the current Costco location!

Industrial Area of St. George:

Google Earth
Google Earth
loading...

South River Road already has a ton of huge warehouses, so a Costco out here wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb. This would better serve the area of Little Valley and the Southern part of St. George that is seeing the most growth. But would Costco want to be out somewhere that feels so desolate?

Cedar City:

Google Earth
Google Earth
loading...

That's right, Cedar City. It's your turn to get a Costco. With Cedar's population sitting under 40,000 I think this would be a long shot to get their first Costco, but I'm not going to rain on this parade. Let's make it happen!

Where have I missed? Where would you like to see the next Costco Location in Southern Utah?!
