DJ’s Super Honest Food Review: Triple TJ’s Cafe
Get ready to hear about possibly the MOST underrated restaurant in the entire area of Southern Utah. This hidden little gem is called Triple TJ's Cafe, and it's located on State Street in Hurricane in the same parking lot as Wendy's. This little restaurant is family owned and operated since 2010, and truly a unique place that you need to experience.
VIBES:
When I entered Triple TJ's, I instantly noticed how tiny the inside is. I would bet the capacity is under 40 people MAYBE. But the seats were full except for one booth... my booth! On the wall, they've got TONS of art that looks like they're from local artists that you could probably purchase while having lunch. This was a Wednesday afternoon around 5:30pm, and it was packed. Every time a table left, more people were coming in. I was surprised how busy they stayed.
One thing that I noticed right away was the menu. The menu is NOT pretty, and the pictures are faded. BUT THIS IS GOOD NEWS! Many people don't realize, but a bad menu with faded pictures USUALLY equals GREAT FOOD! I don't know why, but it ALWAYS works out that way. This menu features a wide variety of items like
- Salads
- Wings
- Fried Shrimp
- Homemade Soups
- Pastas
- Lemon Pepper Salmon
- Baby Back Ribs
- Pineapple Chicken
- Sandwiches
- Burgers
FOOD:
I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and Fries. A safe choice. I've also heard their burgers were really great, so I was excited to try. The burger, fries, side of ranch, and side of fry sauce was delivered to my table really quick and I was able to taste the food. The Bacon Cheeseburger was pretty good. It didn't blow me away, but I absolutely was going to be eating the entire thing. The fries, however... are UNBELIEVABLE! These literally could be the BEST fries in all of Southern Utah (Especially dipped in their ranch.) The only complaint I had was, I wished they would've given me WAY MORE FRIES!
SERVICE:
The service was nice and extremely quick. I had somewhere to be, and was worried I wouldn't get there quick enough, but I was in and out QUICK with their service. One girl took my order, and they had two other food runners bringing the food out as quickly as possible. It was a well-oiled machine at Triple TJ's Cafe in Hurricane!
This is ABSOLUTELY a hidden gem for people in Southern Utah. I'm sure Hurricane residents know about this place, but it's time for the other surrounding areas to give it a shot. It feels like a cute little mom & pop shop cafe. You gotta give this place a try. I'll absolutely be back for more!
