
Experts Say Utahns Should HUNT & EAT This Invasive Frog
There are many invasive plants and bugs that have invaded Utah over the years. Fish have also become a problem, and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources encourages people to catch them and destroy them. When it comes to this big frog, they say go ahead and eat it.
Bullfrogs Released Pushing Out Native Species
The American bullfrog has made its way into Utah by getting released or lost by people who had them as pets. These big frogs are causing problems as they take over territory held by native species.
You can now find these big frogs in many of the bodies of water in Utah. They can grow to 2 to 3 lbs., about the size of a small chicken.
Because they are considered invasive, the DWR doesn’t have any limit on hunting them. In fact, you can catch all you want and on one of their blog posts, they suggest you eat them. Not the whole frog, just the legs.

I tried frog legs once. Well, I should say I made the attempt. I couldn’t get the image of a slimy frog out of my mind and just couldn’t swallow it. Still, if you are interested in trying this fried dish, it may be the best way to lessen the impact of these big amphibians on the local environment.
