Every Guy Has Thought of This Idea

Growing up, every young man who has had to clean the bathroom has spent time thinking of ways to make it easier. It doesn’t take long to take the lesson learned from putting dirty plates in a dishwasher to see how that way of cleaning could be applied to the room with a toilet.

I remember thinking, “What if we just made everything waterproof and I came in here with the hose?” All that scrubbing would be replaced with the power of the nozzle. That dream is becoming the trend for bathrooms in 2025.

It’s Called the Wet Room

Inspired by spas, this new way of building bathrooms plans for everything getting wet. The bathroom floor is tile, and the shower has no door. In fact, there is no separation between the shower and the bathroom. There is a slight slope to the drain to keep from having standing water.

These bathrooms are open, and everything can get wet. That doesn’t mean you can hose it down with a nozzle, mom would not approve, but everything is built to get damp. It is great for older folks who may stumble getting in and out of a shower.

I like how this looks. The only thing I don’t like is the open shower. I like to feel cozy in that place and this open idea leaves too much air blowing around. This is especially irritating when the water pressure is less than ideal. I end up with scalding water on one side while shivering on the other.

Still, if you don’t have a problem with the open breeze, the wet room will wow those who visit. It can look luxurious and might even make it easier to sell down the road.

From scandalous bikini calendars to your dad's AMC Gremlin, '80s garages were a treasure trove of adventure, good fun, and sometimes downright danger.
