For people with CKD or those on dialysis, the kidneys struggle to process these nutrients, potentially leading to dangerous levels in the body, a condition known as hyperkalemia and hyperphosphatemia. Additionally, almonds contain oxalates, which may contribute to kidney stones if consumed in large amounts.

But don't completely disregard the almond in Utah because not all kidney disease patients need to avoid them entirely.
