Vacations and Summer Distractions Leave Utah Food Bank in Need

There is an increase in demand for help from the Utah Food Bank during the summer months. Kids are out of school without access to school lunch programs. At the same time, there are less food drives and volunteering as people are on vacation during this time.

I spoke with Ginette Bott, President and Chief Executive Officer with the Utah Food Bank. She said they could use help right now as they work to serve the 29 counties in Utah. “The most difficult time for us to do that is during the summer,” said Bott.

We Want to Help You Help Those in Need in Southern Utah

If you are planning a food drive or have one scheduled, we here at the radio station would like to help you get the word out. Town Square Media has seven stations that can let people know about what you are doing. You can contact us through the app or call during business hours.

I asked Bott about the best way to plan a food drive or fundraiser. She said to visit UtahFoodBank.org. “If you want to do a food drive or donate money, we give you instructions right there,” said Bott. It is also the place to go if you need help. There is a tab that shows you all the pantry's in your area.
