Unleashing AI: Can It Beat Human Intuition?
The big question to be answered in March this year is whether artificial intelligence can help you win the annual NCAA basketball bracket contest put out by your company. I have pitted an AI bracket against my boss’ human thought out bracket.
I have used Claude to analyze the 64 college basketball teams playing this year in the tournament. This specific AI program was developed to analyze multiple components and find a solution. It seemed perfect to weigh all the teams and produce the best bracket.

My boss has used his brain to research the teams and his eyes to decide which team and players look better. We have both submitted brackets to the contest run by the corporate office.
This will determine if AI has turned the corner and is more useful than humans. It’s one thing to write well worded emails that no one reads except other AI programs, but if it can produce me a winning bracket, it may be time to bow the knee to digital.

I will update this article as the tournament goes on to see who is ahead and how the human and AI brackets are faring compared to everyone else in the company. There is a lot on the line. The winner gets lunch at Angelica’s Mexican Grill.
Update: Things are not looking good. I am in 293rd place. Ironically my boss is tied for 293. It looks like AI is as good as my boss but deficient compared to the resto of the company.
