Congratulations to Amanda and her kids who guessed PHLEGM. They saved the man from being hanged. We'll give away another $100 next Friday.

Every Friday John & Dave give away $100 on Star 98 thanks to the good folks at Grass Creek Construction. This week we are playing Hangman where you try to guess the word before the bad guy is hanged.

No Actual Humans Will Be Harmed on Free Cash Friday

If you are concerned with the safety of the hangman game we will be drawing a made up villain. Think of a combination of Sauron, Voldemort and Thanos. If you guess the word soon enough, even this fake villain will be spared.

On Friday, John and Dave will take a caller on-air at 435-986-9899. You can guess a letter and if it is in the word, you can guess again. If you miss, we add a body part to the noose. Each break we will take a caller and try again.

You can  check back here Friday morning while the game is being played to see what letters have been guessed. It will be updated after each caller.

You can guess the word at any time and the first person who does, wins the $100. If the villain gets completed, we will pick a new word and begin again. So, get your word guessing skills honed and ready for this Friday.

The History of Hangman Goes Back to the 1800s

The first printed rules for the game appeared in a magazine back in 1885. The above video goes into a long explanation of how putting a stick man on the gallows came to be. Back then it was a game invented for adult parties.

Most of us learned this game in Sunday School when the teacher came unprepared. Kind of ironic that church was a place for capital punishment of chalk men. You might think John & Dave are similar to your slacker of a teacher, and you might be right.

Thanks again to Grass Creek Construction for giving us money to give away on the radio. We couldn't do this without them and we appreciate their generosity. Listen to John & Dave this Friday morning on Star 98. That is 98.1 or 98.5 on the dial.
