Utahn Beats Controversial Starbucks Mega Commute
There are some legendary commutes out there, but this Utah commute puts them all to shame.
The new CEO at Starbucks, Brian Niccol, has reported that he will be going into the office in Seattle about three times a week. Here is where it gets controversial for some, he plans on flying from Newport to Seattle for his commute.
It is yet another use of distance travel that has people feeling critical. From worrying about the resources it uses to just simple jealousy that some people get to do it all, it seems that long distance commutes have many people concerned.
I'm not saying that it is right or wrong to address the "really" factor of long-distance commutes, but I talked to a lady whose husband has them all beat.

She told me that she lives in St. George full time, but that her husband commutes...to Alaska. The story unfolded like this. He got a job in Alaska in a very full-time position. I believe it was two weeks on with crazy hours and then two weeks off. He told his wife that the company values life balance and understands that Alaska life is not for everyone, (part of the reason they do high intensity work and then let them rest for two weeks). The plus side of this setup? He told her she could choose anywhere in the US to live. She loves St. George, and the rest is history.
Can you imagine the temperature shock when this guy works in the summer?
For better or worse, the St. George Alaska commute has got to be one for the records.
