Utah Could Design San Francisco 1.7M Dollar Restroom

Utah is a bright spot for the best restrooms.

San Francisco has been at the center of a controversy about a 1.7 million dollar public restroom. The price tag was so shocking that citizens and politicians worked together to bring the cost of it down substantially.

But it brings up the question, what would make a luxury public bathroom worth spending a large amount on?

Utah just might be the answer to public restroom finery.

Why? There is a contest for America's Best Restroom sponsored by bathroom dispensary provider, Cintas.

There were many submissions, but Utah has the distinction of being the only state with 2 entries in the top 10.

The Little America Hotel was listed for its chandeliers and glamorous touches including marble floors and delicate cabinetry and floor-to-ceiling doors. A must for public toilet luxury.

Huntsville Utah's Snow Basin resort also was listed with rich wood, accented carpet, and mirrors that could satisfy Narcissus during a visit.

I feel like Utah is so good at public restrooms that it's hard to narrow them down to a "Best Of" list. But here are a few that come to mind.

Most restaurants in Utah put a little extra time to make their restrooms nice, but I think with funny signs and playful decor, Jimmy John's restrooms deserve a nod.

Maybe not luxury, but I love the privacy and amount of rooms at the public parks in Southern Utah. The large building with a lockable door for each stall is a 1.7 million dollar San Francisco budget experience for me.

Maybe I'm too practical because another fine restroom experience that comes to mind is at our medical centers. Be it hospitals or medical offices there is a bathroom around every corner, they are one room per toilet, and guaranteed to be spotless.
