Utah Comedians Relate to Accused Texas Politician
A Texas judge in Fort Bend County, named KP George and his team, have been accused of creating fake Facebook profiles to post racist comments about himself in a bid for sympathy. And while this might sound like a plot twist from a soap opera, it hit a little too close to home for me—time for a confession.
There was once a comic duo (yep, that’s me and Dave) hungry for the spotlight. We were riding high after getting a write-up in our college newspaper for our comedy act. Naturally, we wanted more attention. We noticed that the “Letters to the Editor” section often sparked heated arguments after readers would complain about a particular article. Drama for days! So, in our infinite wisdom, we decided to stir the pot ourselves.
We submitted not-so-flattering opinions about our own performances, hoping to ignite some fiery discussion. Wouldn’t you know, we thought we were being so clever.

Even if we didn't go as far, nor was there as much on the line, it was a tactic eerily similar to what Judge George's camp pulled off in Texas. But unlike him, our plan flopped spectacularly. No one took the bait. Not a single letter, not one "Yeah, those guys *are* terrible!" Nothing. In retrospect, I guess that’s a good thing, but boy, was it anticlimactic.
So, while I’m not saying George was right (because, let’s be real, if the accusations are true, he wasn’t), I do get where he was coming from. Desperation can lead us to do some questionable things in the pursuit of attention, success, or—dare I say—fame. I can’t exactly throw stones, but I can shake my head and chuckle at the shared absurdity of it all.
