“I will have the crispy onion rounds, mashed potatoes and why not have the sea bass.” You turn to your fellow diner as the waiter bustles off to get your order started to explain your order. “I wasn’t sure about the sea bass, but it is so hard to get fresh seafood like this I thought I had better.”

You have been sat down to a cozy table in the corner of the brick studded restaurant whose climate is accentuated by soft piano music. It is true this is a hot spot for fresh fish probably because of the location, it is snuggled in the middle of the Mojave Desert.

How does a town about 4 hours from the closest ocean brag about such fresh seafood? The trick is the demand. Because Las Vegas diners are so abundant and looking for seafood the market gets served sometimes before local fisheries. Planes, trains and trucks deliver fresh food to Las Vegas in rapid fashion to get some of the freshest catches to your table.

There are several options for great seafood in Las Vegas, you can brave the parking and prices of downtown on the strip, or for the more seasoned traveler, there are a bunch of options north in old downtown where the parking is more relaxed and the mood more artistic. If you don’t want to worry about parking at all, head out to the burbs. There are tons of fresh fish options that seem to be able to tap into the fresh fish channels that the big casinos use.

So get out their you old sea dog and eat like a harbor dweller.
