Cage-free Eggs Recalled In Arizona And Nevada Over Salmonella Outbreak

An egg recall impacting nine states including Nevada and Arizona points to a huge salmonella outbreak.  

On June 6, 2025, the August Egg Company posted a message detailing the recall of 1.7 million eggs across California, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Indiana, Nebraska, and Illinois. The eggs made their way to a variety of stores including: 

• Save Mart 
• FoodMaxx 
• Ralphs 
• Safeway 
• Food 4 Less 
• Raleys 
• Lucky 
• Smart & Final

If you’re like me, you reach for the cage free brown eggs when you go to the grocery store. In this instance it may be better to not. Cage free brown eggs from August Egg Company in California spans multiple brands. The states where the recall is affecting have also had reports of salmonella.

The eggs have sell by dates from March 4 to June 4 in California and Nevada. Eggs distributed to Walmart have a sell by date from March 4 to June 19 in ALL states.   

Each carton has a Julian Date on it. If you have purchased from any of these locations, check for P-6562 or CA-5330 with Julian Dates between 32 and 126.
