Cedar City Music Arts continues its 95th season with an electrifying acoustic music performance Thursday night, November 21, at the Heritage Center Theater. The concert, beginning at 7:30 PM, features Grammy-nominated musicians Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes, with opening acts Steve Smith and Tim May. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early for the best seating.

Marty Warburton, a key figure in Cedar City Music Arts and a seasoned musician himself, expressed his enthusiasm for the event speaking to us on the radio show.

“If you’re a fan of acoustic music, these artists are like the Michael Jordan and Steph Curry of their craft,” Warburton said. “Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes are phenomenal. It’s one of those performances you have to see to believe—describing it is like trying to explain the taste of salt.”

The evening will open with Steve Smith and Tim May, featuring instruments such as the mandolin, guitar, mandocello, and bouzouki. Following a brief intermission, Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes will take the stage. Warburton highlighted the uniqueness of the lineup, adding, “We’re bringing in talent that most people in Cedar City wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to experience. These artists are world-class, and it’s a privilege to host them.”

In addition to the main event, the performers will hold a special educational session Thursday morning for 500 Iron County schoolchildren. The session will include a live demonstration and a Q&A, offering students a rare opportunity to interact with professional musicians. “For many kids, this will be their first live concert experience,” Warburton noted. “It’s an inspiring way to ignite their interest in music.”

With this concert marking the second in a six-show season, Cedar City Music Arts continues its mission of bringing world-class performances to Southern Utah.

As Warburton said with a smile, “If you don’t like what you hear, I’ll personally give you your money back—just don't cash the check until next March.”
