The NIL (name image and likeness) is the worst thing to happen to college sports since academics.

All of these 18-year-olds are walking around with tons of money to play a game that the good 'ole boys were happy to play for free.

Do you think Jim Thorpe got a check from Standard Oil?

No he was happy to play for free.

Did Jim Brown get a million dollars to tote the rock for the Syracuse Orange?

Heck no. Old Jim played for the love of the game.

Even Tebow made jack when he was bangin' for the Gators.

So how much are these spoiled players at BYU making exactly??

Well, not much...

The "CougConnect" NIL collective is paying cash to BYU players to help them mainly buy groceries.

Per Jay Drew's article in the Deseret News: (full article here)

“We want to bring the passion and the power of Cougar Nation into the NIL space,” Jake Brandon (founder of CougConnect) said last week. “And some of that is breaking down some stereotypes that NIL is just more player entitlement and it is ruining college athletics. It isn’t that way. Only a handful of (athletes) make the big bucks. I have done more NIL deals to get kids groceries in the summer time than anything else.”

Brandon said that most of the deals he's gotten for players are around $100 dollars and that CougConnect sent out $100,000 dollars last season.

I'm actually surprised it's not more. I know that there are a couple of NIL groups for BYU including the newer Royal Blue Collective, but I don't think anybody at BYU now that Puka Nacua and Jaren Hall are gone, are making tons of money.

Kingsley Suamataia is probably at the top for BYU. On3.com gives him a NIL valuation of over $600K.

I'm sure you've seen him on CupBop billboards in Provo, but he's clearly the exception.

Even Kedon Slovis has said that he turned down bigger NIL opportunities because he wanted to play at BYU.

So for those sickened by a bunch of young college kids driving Range Rovers and making more money than the president...aim your disgust at USC, not BYU.
