There's no place like a porch.

You sit there, you do that thing where your neighbor walks by and you pretend there's something on your shirt that you're scraping off to avoid contact. You can dance out there like that scene in The Notebook.

Many would kill for a porch but they say maybe in another life for now let's focus on lawn gnomes.

But for those who have porches, here are the colors of porch lights that signify something:

Purple

This is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and apparently also Alzheimers Awareness Month.

According to lightbulbs.com: (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

"In 1989, October became known as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Honor the survivors and victims of domestic violence by lighting your porch purple!

Now that you know the significance of what these bulb colors mean, feel free to get your own and spread awareness by changing up your porch light colors!"

Red

International Firefighters Day. This is on May 4th every year and beyond I'm sure.

Pink

Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Green

Blue

"Blue symbolizes Autism Month and Police respect. Shining a blue light is a nationwide recognition of the Police Officers who have died in the line of duty. This is also known as, Project Blue Light. Check out our Light It Up Blue for Autism Month blog to learn more about how you can support those with Autism." (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)
