PLEASE: These Southern Utah Restaurants NEED A Drive Thru!
Look... It's 2023! I'm sick of having to get OUT of my car to go pick my food up. Zupas has it all figured out! I need a drive-thru for these restaurants! It's ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL that these places DO NOT have a drive-thru window!
This one is BY FAR the worst! The Durango's parking lot is ALWAYS full, and a long walk away. I would cry happy tears if they had a drive-thru window in the back! Costa Vida has one in both Cedar City, Hurricane, and St. George! Cedar's Cafe Rio has one! LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN, DURANGO'S!
If you're thinking... "Wait, they do have a drive-thru window!", YOU'RE WRONG! Pasta Factory DOES NOT send their food up to the Pizza Factory window anymore. This one especially sucks because their parking lot is TINY at Pasta Factory, and it's so inconvenient to park and run in to grab your food!
Angelica's Mexican Grill:
Angelica's also has a TINY parking lot, and always a line to get into the building! A nice little drive-thru window would be PERFECT! I would go there every week!
Tom's Deli is a St. George staple! But I NEVER go there. However, if there was a drive-thru window, I would totally order food to go! Most other sandwich places have a window! Why not Tom's?
Crumbl having a drive-thru would be a HUGE PROBLEM for me... They already offer curbside that is lightning fast! If I had the ability to drive up to Crumbl, order a cookie and drive away all in under a minute... I'd be in BIG TROUBLE!
Best Ways To Know If A Southern Utah Restaurant Is AMAZING Or Not...
Have you ever walked into a restaurant and could INSTANTLY tell the food was going to be AMAZING?! That's a great feeling, right?!
Here are the BEST WAYS to tell if that restaurant is going to be AWESOME before ever tasting the food!
The employees speak very little English:
YES! That's going to be some real authentic food! If they speak zero English, you hit the jackpot! Get ready for some of the best food you've ever tasted! They let the food do the talking!
The menu looks awful, faded, and pictures aren't pretty:
This one goes against everything we've been taught with marketing... But it's right! If that menu looks ugly, they've been so busy making KILLER FOOD to even have to worry about that menu!
You just spotted the Chef... They're a thicc boi or thicc girl:
Oh man, this food is going to be GREAT! I don't want food from a chef that looks like they spend more time at Summit than the kitchen! I trust their taste in food SO MUCH MORE!
The kitchen has some Hawaiian music blasting back there:
This is EVERYTIME I'm at Island Grinds! They've got the Hawaiian music absolutely bumpin' back there. Every single time, I know that food is going to slap!
The Chinese staff are kind of rude:
I don't know If it's a culture thing or what... But if that staff seems like they don't care about me at all, GET READY FOR SOME BOMB CASHEW CHICKEN!
A Kid is working counter, while their parents are in the back cooking:
I LOVE THIS ONE! Totally family run business, that food is made with LOVE and SWEAT (alright, not real sweat, but you get it.) That food is going to blow your mind.
The place is totally RUN DOWN, but NOT dirty:
YES! This is commonly referred to as a "Dive" and that food is going to be greasy and INCREDIBLE! Sign me up!
Their hours usually suck and you have NO IDEA when they're even open:
If you NEVER know when they'll actually be open, that food is going to rock. I've had this! I try to track down when they're open because that food is SO GOOD!
Typos or misspelled words on menu:
They're not worried about it! Again... They let the food do the talking! There's a very popular Mexican fast food place in town that has SO MANY TYPOs and misspelled words and the food is always great! They even misspelled "Chocolate"! LOVE IT!
Southern Utah Restaurants That Could Throw A Drink In My Face And I'd Still Go Back To Them
Ever had a drink thrown in your face? A friend of ours recently had a drink thrown in their face at a LOCAL drive-thru restaurant here in St. George. We're not going to name names... But:
If that ever happened to you... Would you EVER go back to that restaurant? Most people would probably say no. But what if you REALLY loved that restaurant?
Here's a list of Southern Utah Restaurants that could throw a drink in my face and I'd STILL go back to them!
Sakura has been doing my belly wrong for YEARS... But I STILL GO BACK! I can't get enough of that fried rice, that onion soup, that steak! My belly HATES IT, but I love it! A thrown drink in my face would be NOTHING compared to the havoc it already wreaks on my stomach!
I've been a Durangos lifer since inception... like 2003? Best quesadilla in town! Throw a drink in my face, I don't even care! Just don't take the food away from me!
This one might surprise you... but hear me out! My dad used to take me to Burger King for breakfast ALL THE TIME when I was a kid. It is my FAVORITE PLACE to get some breakky! I can't go on without Burger King Breakfast! I'll be there the next day in a fake mustache.
This one might be the biggest of all of them. I can't stop with that Alfredo sauce, and I can't get it anywhere else! I would just have to accept my fate if they threw a drink in my face. I'm not letting go of those breadsticks and Alfredo. Not a chance in Hell!
This would require a LOT for Crumbl to even make this happen! They would have to like... Go get a bottle of milk, take the lid off and splash that in my face. But I'd probably already have half a cookie in my mouth, so I would probably end up thanking them. I'll just go to one of their other MILLION locations!
Southern Utah Buffet Wars: Is Golden Corral Better Than Chuck-A-Rama?

Now... I take Buffets VERY SERIOUSLY! And I do several plates! Here are some of my plates and I'll tell you how great it all was.
Fresh, HOT rolls with honey butter:
Potatoes & Gravy, Mac & Cheese, Corn, Meatloaf:
Every bite was amazing! at least an 8/10 or 9/10... Meatloaf was maybe a 6/10.
THIS! THIS RIGHT HERE! The rice and Bourbon Chicken... THE BEST THING ON THE ENTIRE MENU! 25/10! YES!
Steak, Stuffing, Scalloped Potatoes:
Again... Everything was perfect. Those potatoes were UNREAL! YES! SO GOOD!
This Banana Pudding:
Just when I thought I've already eaten the best food... I found THIS! INCREDIBLE!
The restaurant was incredibly clean. The service was TOP NOTCH. Our server never let our drinks get empty, and she kept checking on us and bringing us more HOT ROLLS!
It was AMAZING! I'm ready to say it... GOLDEN CORRAL IS THE KING OF SOUTHERN UTAH BUFFETS!
