The intent of widening the Tropicana interchange is to make accessibility easier and add capacity. The project will also set the stage for growth in the future, including widening 1-15 as the need continues.

This project started in 2022 and has lasted 3 years , so we are in the final traffic-interrupting stages as paving and striping are being applied before finishing.

Last weekend, my family and I happened to cross the Tropicana Interchange Project around 7:00 in the evening. We hit a bit of a slowdown, mostly due to a few closed lanes. The real holdup seemed to be the merging traffic from those closures. I was worried we’d get stuck waiting for construction vehicles, but we kept moving, and the delay was barely more than 10 minutes. Granted, it was a weekend evening, so maybe we lucked out with the timing, but you should know that traffic was still flowing, even if it was a little slower.
