Miracle Meadow Stands Tall Amidst Raging Utah Wildfires
KUTV‑ISH SPECIAL REPORT: “A Place in Utah That Is Miraculously Not on Fire”
SOUTHERN UTAH— In breaking news that has stunned meteorologists, firefighters, and every Utahn who has stepped outside and immediately smelled brisket, officials have confirmed that one small portion of Black Mountain near Cedar City is not currently on fire.

The area—an 11‑acre patch of land located somewhere that will not be revealed to avoid someone visiting and starting one—has become a symbol of hope for residents who have spent the last week wondering if the entire state would be a briquette by July.
Miracle Meadow
Experts say the unburned zone, now dubbed “The Miracle Meadow, is a reminder that despite the 6,000-acre Hastings Fire near Toole, the 22,000-acre Iron Fire near Eureka, and the 500-acre Bonneville fire there are still some small portions of Utah wilderness that are not on fire.
Local residents have begun honoring the meadow as something—anything—that isn’t glowing orange. With a name like Black Mountain the meadow seems to be defying all odds. One visitor described the miracle with these words, “I forgot what the color green looked like. I thought maybe I made it up.”
Hope Springs Like a Dry Spring
Meanwhile, Utahns are encouraged to take comfort in the fact that while the state may be smoky, fiery, and vaguely apocalyptic, there is still one tiny patch of land bravely refusing to participate.

Officials say they will continue monitoring The Miracle Meadow closely, mostly to make sure they were not misinformed and need to send firefighters.
