Exciting Renames Utah Could Consider Like Gulf Of America
President Trump has determined that the Gulf of Mexico will be called the Gulf of America. To some of our surprise Google is planning to update their map to the new name. According to Google’s policy they take their naming policy from the official government sources. So as soon as the official government sources update the gulf and the name of Mount McKinley, we should expect to see those changes on Google maps.
This name change has started some of us to look for name changes that make sense for Utah. Here are some of the stand out ideas of name changes that we could submit to our officials while we are in the mood to rename some things.
Great Salt Lake - The Deader Sea: We all know that our area is linked geographically and culturally to the holy land so why not make the ties more clear to the dead sea and maybe up the ante on them.
Utah Lake - The Redder Sea: For the same reason as above.
Grand Canyon - End of Utah: You know all of those pictures of the world ending where the sea is spilling off the edge? The Grand Canyon seems to be that for Utah, Sorry to step on you Arizona, but that strip is awkward anyway.
Southern Utah - Better California: It has the warmth, palm trees beaches of Lake Powell and less of the crazy, we even have a little Hollywood. While we may not want to lose the name, this would make it clear that you get all the good of California without crappy politics.

Utah - More West Virginia: I mean it just makes sense; Virginia needs to know that the west stretches much further than their state.
What do you think? Are there any names you think would better represent our area?
