Enjoy The Self-Esteem Roller Coaster, Utah
Ups and downs of self-esteem can wreak havoc on our sense of self-worth, but knowing that can relieve Utahns need to be exceptional every day.
The nature of self-esteem is that it fluctuates. If you are like me and most of my neighbors and family and other Utahns whose quest to become better seems to drive them to be demanding of themselves, you may be unhappy to have days that are well, unhappy.
Expert Dr. Kristin Neff points out that the nature of self-esteem is cyclical, it has its ups and downs like many other phenomena that cycles. Think of the moon, seasons, even your biological health. They all have ups and downs which are completely natural.
It stands to reason that our psychological biology has similar swings. As improvementists we love the ups when things seem to be going our way, we feel confident and dare I say blessed, but we see the downs as negative, something we did wrong that needs to be fixed.
We would do well to see these ups and downs more like a ride. When was the last time you were on a roller coaster and felt guilty that the ride had dips in the track? In this scenario you are on a designed course, you can't choose where the track takes you, so you enjoy the ride, the turns, the ups and the downs.

If we could do this more, we would be more content with our lives, our self-esteem might be more consistent and we might be able to see the lows for what they are, temporary parts of our life journey that are a prequel to the next upcoming high.
