Can Roaches Get in your Utah Home from the Drain?
Have you ever opened up your shower and found a cockroach or two gathered around the drain? Suddenly, you don’t want to shower or even live in your house anymore. The obvious conclusion is these bugs are coming into your house through the pipes.
The Good News About Cockroaches and Pipes
A YouTuber who spent years doing pest control says this is not where cockroaches are coming from. His name is Guy and he has interesting things to say about roaches.
According to Guy, these nasty little bugs do live in the pipes under your house, but they do not come into your home that way. The P-trap below your sink and in the toilet stops roaches. This is that bend in the pipe under your sink that holds water.
The P-trap keeps the smelly air from the sewer from drifting up the train and into your house. It does the same thing with roaches. The water in the pipe keeps the bugs from moving through it according to Guy.
The reason you find roaches in the shower is because they like water. They have made their way to where the water is from the wall or somewhere else. They even go down the drain and you may see them coming back out.
The Bad News About How Roaches are Getting in Your House
Unfortunately, cockroaches can get into your home in many other ways. You can bring them home in your luggage from an infested building while on vacation. Even boxes delivered to your house can include eggs that will hatch and infest.
Lest you cancel all vacations and deliveries, roaches can also just walk across the street from an infested neighbor's house. These bugs have been thriving since the world was formed and they will be around when we are all gone.

So, what is the solution to cockroaches? You can hire someone to manage the bugs. Regular pest control can keep it at bay, but Guy claims you can get rid of them for good even as a do it yourselfer.
It might be work checking out his solutions if you have a roach infestation.
