Cedar City is ready to celebrate Independence Day with activities planned through out the day and evening. The days events start with the 4th of July Patriotic Parade at 9:30am. The parade will follow the same route as the past several years beginning at the corner of 300 West and University Boulevard, proceeding east to Main Street, where the parade will turn north and end at 400 North. Parade organizer Beth Stephenson joined us on the Big Picture Morning Show and called the parade “really unifying for the whole community.” The parade will be divided into two segments. The first segment, “The Spirit of 76 Pagent” will be the first 16 entries. The second half of the parade will be the traditional portion featuring are leaders and service groups. One of the highlights of the parade will be a children's choir singing the song “Freedom Isn't Free.” For those who can not attend in person, the parade will be live streamed on the Cedar City Events page on Facebook. After the parade, the Cedar City Main Street Park will be full of activities for all ages until 3:00pm. The Cedar City fireworks display will take place after dark.at the airport. The fireworks are provided by the Cedar City Fire Department. Greg Orloski, Deputy Fire Marshall for the fire department was also on the morning show with us and recommended that residents who wish to use personal fireworks do so in designated area where safety protocols will be in place. You can find the locations here. Orloski also reminded listeners that there are areas in the vicinity where the use of fireworks is prohibited. Listen to our segments with Stephenson and Orloski below and have fun this weekend!
